In Maine

Salies

Spring means it's time to look for spotted salamanders. They only come out of the ground one time of year and we could hardly wait for their long anticipated arrival.

Griffin and Rosemary on the search.

African Dance in the North Country

Waluba, the group Zoe dances with, had an African Dance performance in Saranac Lake last week. It was awesome!

Oh Canada!

We ventured to Montreal for Spring Break '09. Joined by the Cook family, we enjoyed dim sum in Chinatown and an afternoon exploring the Biodome, Insectarium, and Botanical Gardens. As you can imagine, the kids loved watching the monkeys and the lynx at the Biodome. The highlights at the Insectarium were the live exhibit of leaf cutter ants and their collection of live tarantulas, giant beetles, and walking sticks. The warm, tropical air and lush, green foliage at the botanical gardens created a nice reprieve from the cool, brown, spring environment we came from.

However, nothing compared to the cheddar and bacon flavored dried crickets that Griffin, Kaleb AND Jason all sampled. YUCK! I'll stick to butterfly lollipops.
