First critter search of the new year

We went to John Brown's Farm on Sunday and despite the fact that the adults thought it was too cold and there was too much ice on the pond to find critters, G found them. Among the captured and released; a couple frogs, a bunch of caddis flies, water boatman, a strange egg mass, and some type of nymph. Silly adults.

Sugar Shack Weekend

It's finally spring and that means maple syrup. Griffin and Ruby got to see the workings of a maple sugaring farm, sample sap straight from the tree, and of course lots of maple syrup and maple candy.

Ice Castle 2009

This years Ice Castle is awesome! Complete with a giant castle with maze and tunnel, a stockade, and a pirate ship. The Winter Carnival theme his year is Pirates of the Adirondacks. Unfortunately the warm weather and rain has closed it down already, but we made sure to get there before it started to melt. The pictures are a bit dark but you'll get the idea.

Ski Pics

Winter has been great and we have been doing lots of skiing. We did a 3 mile loop at the Paul Smiths Visitor Interpretative Center a few weeks ago. We towed a sled for Ruby so if she needed a break she could catch a ride. However, she decided she was going to ski and ride on Daddy's pole for the entire trip. Daddy got a good work out pulling Ruby on his pole and Mama got a good work out pulling the empty sled. All we saw of Griffin and his friend Noa was the back of their heads the entire trip.
